2 September 2023 - Early Hours: The Full Moon that was hidden

The air had that distinct chill, the kind that tickles your spine and makes you feel oddly alive. Nature at night has always been an ally of mine, and tonight, I had a mission – to pick fresh roses for Mother. Morticia has a certain fondness for roses that have been kissed by the moonlight. And of course, Thing insisted on coming along. It has a peculiar fondness for the moonlit outdoors. The little hand doesn't like to be confined for too long. It rested comfortably on my shoulder, every now and then moving down to my hand, its fingers intertwining with mine. A silent companion, Thing's presence is oddly comforting.

The moonlight cascaded, illuminating my path. I was wearing my dark blue dress with the white collar. It's not my typical black, but sometimes, a touch of color, especially one as deep and mysterious as the midnight blue, feels right. I just hoped the hem wouldn’t pick up dirt, especially since there was a likelihood of me having to kneel to pick the roses.

As I walked, the moon emerged from behind a cloud, full and radiant. It struck me then - it's a full moon. How could I have missed this? A full moon before a significant event requires certain... rituals to ensure everything goes as planned. The Addams don't leave things to chance, especially not under a full moon.

Although roses were the primary objective, I couldn't ignore the calling of the moon. With Thing resting on my shoulder, its presence soothing, I quickly set about gathering the necessary herbs. The ritual had to be precise. The energies of a full moon are potent, and I wanted to harness them for whatever lay ahead.

By the time I returned home with the roses for Morticia, my dark blue dress had a few smudges of earth, but it was a small price to pay. The ritual was done, the energies aligned. With the blessings of a full moon and roses kissed by its light, the Addams household was in perfect harmony. Thing was resting on my shoulder The night promises to be long.
